Project Overview:
I decided to base my character and story board on an animation I have been wanting to create for a while. That being; a short action sequence based upon the idea that a super hero is running away from a perusing helicopter. However, other than the fact that the hero was going to have super agility and super strength, I had not decided on what that character might look like. So here are a selection of sketches I did to try and find the look I wanted.
This is a very sharp and clean styling. I did like it, however, I wanted something a little more 'gritty'.
I was quite keen on this sketch, but I felt as though that was mostly from the posing. However, it did give me an insight into how I could use poses to drive the staging of my story board to keep things dynamic.
This is more towards what I was looking for, exaggerated musculature that is typical of a comic book hero.
This was an early character sculpt created in zbrush that I created to explore a character in all dimentions. I really liked the proportions and the anatomy was relatively accurate however, I wanted something a little more typical.
